Social Media Sites For Beauty Bloggers

As a beauty blogger you will need tools to help you get the word out about your latest and greatest posts. The fastest and easiest ways to do this is to join social media groups where you can meet and socialize with other like-minded people all while getting additional hits on your site. Here are a few popular social media sites that you should consider joining.

Facebook

Possibly the most influential of all of the social media groups is Facebook. The great thing about it is that there are people of all ages and from all over the world on it so that your reach is endless. Since companies like to see the number of likes on your Facebook page you’re going to have to get a lot of hits on that like button. Start by creating a profile for your blog and inviting people that you know to like your page. Then take it to the next level and invite acquaintances and other bloggers that you respect to hit the like button as well. If your likes are on the lower end of the spectrum, try having a giveaway where people have to like your page in order to have a chance to win a product or simple run some Facebook ads. Of course joining some beauty networks that are hosted on Facebook is also a good idea but I’ll come back to this later.

Twitter

When you first start a twitter account chances are that you will be following more people than you have followers. This is normal and over time will balance out. However, the only way that Twitter will truly be effective is you socialize with people. It’s not enough to follow people and tweet your own posts because almost no one will take notice and your tweets won’t be read. People will only remember you if you interact with them and tweet or retweet their posts so that they know that you have an interest in them. Eventually, others will tweet your posts and visit your site based on the tweets as well.

LinkedIn

Linkin gives you the opportunity to connect with people that you work with as well as people who work in fields that relate to yours. Since you have a beauty blog, they would connect you to PR firms, makeup companies and other bloggers. It’s a fantastic way make connections and stay in contact with people. Like Facebook, you are going to find many beauty related groups on LinkedIn where you can get to know other bloggers, get followers and promote your posts.

Pintreest

Pinterest is a pinboard where you can post your favorite pictures on the web and comment on other people’s pictures. It’s a great place to post pictures that you’ve taken, get feedback and get ideas of how to improve your own photographs. You can also get ideas on for blog posts that you may want to write which will definitely come in handy when you’re stumped.

Reddit

Reddit is a social media site that allows you to post any blog or article and other people can vote it up or down and even make comments. Unfortunately there are many bored people in the world so trolling does occur from time to time, but since so many of the members are tired of seeing rude comments it’s happening a lot less these days. On the other hand, if you put up a good post your site can get hundreds of views making it well worth your time.

StumbleUpon

StumbleUpon allows you to submit your latest blog for the whole world to see. Like Reddit, viewers can vote it up or down so that the more good votes you get the more people see it. In addition to beauty you can follow all sorts of topics and blogs so that these are what you will see when you stumble other blogs which means that people can follow you on it. I’ve found that StumbleUpon is a great way to get hits on your site and get those unique pageview numbers up.

Google+

This is Google’s version of Facebook and it allows you to connect with other people who have a Gmail account. Although your reach is limited, it allows you to create circles, setup huddles for those times when you’re setting up a meeting, and setup virtual hangouts. In addition to this Google claims that your privacy is a priority so your information will never be sold.

I mentioned earlier that there are beauty groups that you can join on Facebook and on LinkedIn where you can meet other beauty bloggers. The reasons that you should definitely look into joining a few is to gain followers and friends, become a member of a supportive community who wants to help make you a better blogger and to learn about new events and products. Some of my favorites are:

  • Beauty Blog Coalition on Facebook
  • Beauty Blogger on LinkedIn
  • Beauty Blogs on LinkedIn
  • IFabbo on LinkedIn

You’ll find that you spend a lot of time socializing with the other members and grow immensely from the knowledge that you gain from them. In some circles, you may even feel a true sense of friendship, not just a virtual one. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and get social.
