I like to think of myself as a Jane of all trades, I can dance, act, write, coach, sing, produce, decorate, twirl batons, and perform cheerleading routines. I’m pretty good at them all BUT when it comes to business I had to hone in on 1 in order to “Be Me For A Living”!

Are you falling in the trap of being a Jane of all trades in your business? Do you feel you can sell to everybody? Do you feel your product/service is for everyone? Finding a niche is one of the best things that you can do for your Beauty/Fashion business & your bank account. In fact, some of the most profitable companies capitalize on niche markets.

If you are in the business of helping other people look and feel beautiful, there are people everywhere that want and need what you have to offer. Would you agree?

You must remember that you are in a people business. You have to connect with people in order to grow yourBeauty Maker’s Biz. So, why are you hanging out at home glued to the computer?

You see, the #1 way to promote your business is to get in front of people. “Connectivity Is The New Currency” so if you want to have a lot of business, you have to connect with a lot of people.

Do people in your community know what you do?

Have you taken the time to get to know your neighbors?

You have to get out of the house. You are a walking billboard for your business. Yes, attending an event is along term marketing strategy! In order to stay in business you have to market your business.

How do you get the biggest bang for your buck? Go to events with your preferred Joint Venture Partners.

But here’s the deal, the connection starts before you leave the house. That’s right you market before the event…

Go to the event site and see who’s going to be at the event and pick 5 key people that you’d like to connect with. Reach out to them via social media or emails, letting them know that you’re looking forward to connecting.

How beautiful does that sound?

When you go to the event you’ll already have a strategy. This will do wonders for your confidence. You did your homework and probably will have a lot more information and I’m certain it will increase your visibility and productivity at the event.

You can stop by their table and let them know you went to their site, liked their Facebook page, sent an email or followed them on Twitter. First steps in Sales Know-Like-Trust! You’ll already have a rapport.

If you haven’t made a connection and you’re meeting them for the first time, show interest and see how you can be of value to them. Pull versus Push marketing… I emphasize collecting cards so you can follow up. What you do after the event can change the destiny of your business!

I believe in Joint Venture Partnerships. It’s the reason my business has quadrupled. 3 Solid Joint Ventures can lead to consistent work and consistent deposits in your bank account!

Quick Clue:

Find those that share your target audience, are consistently marketing their business, and you like. It’s a partnership and you want to make sure it aligns with your brand image as well!

Ladies, Are You Wearing Your Suit Of Armor?

What are you wearing to work today? Nothing says “In charge” or “professional” more than a suit. If you are a“Chick In Charge” or want to stand in your feminine power at work chances are you own 1, 2 or 3 Business Suits. Some of the suits in my closet include skirt suits with fitted and shaped jackets which are quite trendy this season. My preference however is dresses and I only wear suits if I have to. If you are a“Fashionista” the professional suit is always in style but I think it’s important to make it your own. Too many times we don’t wear what we want because we’re worried about what other people will think.

There’s one suit you should be wearing right now and it’s not in your closet!

Once upon a time, I worried about what other people thought of me. I was always concerned what “they” would think. It held me back some times, because I found myself not playing full out because I was afraid of being me. Do you find yourself making decisions based on what you want or what other people want?

If I wear this, what will “they” think?

If I change my hairstyle, what will “they” think?

If I quit my job to do what I love, what will “they” think?

If I speak my mind, what will “they” think?

If I follow my heart and do what makes me happy, what will “they think?

If I buy a bigger house, what will “they” think?

If I buy a luxury car, what will “they” think?

How many times have you thought, what will “they” think? Today is a great day to stop worrying about what other people think of you. It’s your life and you have to do what best serves you.

Why are we so afraid?

It comes down to fear of criticism, the thought of someone saying something negative causes most people to run, hide and live a mediocre life. Do you fall in that category? Have you decided to not do the thing that you wanted to do to please someone else?

Face it, people are going to talk. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but what they think about you or say about you doesn’t have to define you (only if you let it). It’s important you wear a “Suit of Armor”. It’s important you develop resilience so when you meet negativity you’re shielded because 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year you’re wearing a “Suit of Armor”. You’ve heard the saying “like water off a duck’s back “(Great analogy too!).

So the next time you make the decision to do what you want to do and someone has a problem with it. Smileand remember if they’re busy talking about you, it’s because you’re a hot topic (definitely worth talking about).However, let’s face it, they probably don’t have anything better to do (pretty sad) and they’re definitely not happy with themselves and only want to bring you down so they can feel better. Let them bask in your success and rock your “Suit of Armor” every season!!!

Pretty…Pretty…Please… The Beauty of Asking For What You Want!!

Are you living your life or the life someone else wants you to live?

Are you going after what you want or settling for what you don’t want?

Are you afraid of asking for what you want? You have to be able to ask for what you want in order to receive it.

On a scale of 1-10 how good are you at asking for what you want? Be honest, how good are you at stepping up and asking for what you want every day? Some people may ask every once in a while, but consistency will make it easier for you to get the results you’re looking for.

You see, you have to be able to communicate your needs both personally and professionally if you want them to be met!

Sometimes the only thing standing between you and what you want is an unwavering commitment to just ask for it.

How many times have you heard “Ask and it is given”? It’s not just a cute phrase, there’s meaning and proof to support the accuracy of that statement.

I remember speaking my mind as young as 5 and discovered speaking up wasn’t the “cute” thing to do. Needless to say, I got in a lot of trouble. Today, I still speak my mind with tact of course, but being outspoken has made it easy to ask for what I want.

I ask for my water to be served without ice. I ask for the sale. I ask to be picked up when I don’t feel like driving. I ask to sit in a booth instead of a table when I go to a restaurant. I ask to see what specials are running when I shop. I ask for an upgrade on the plane. I even asked the bank to reverse the charges for the new checks I ordered. I can go on and on because every day I ask for what I want; now I’d like to ask YOU, to do it too!

Fear-Doubt-Worry will stop you if you let it…

This is what stops many people from achieving their goals. They refuse to ask for help, especially when they need it the most. They start conjuring up in their head, 100 reasons why they shouldn’t ask.

I’m bothering them…
They won’t say yes…
It’s silly for me to ask…
I’m too embarrassed…
What will they think of me…?

The more you ask, the more you’ll get…

What I’d like you to do is take out a sheet of paper and write at the top “I Am Asking for What I Want Now” and then list 10 things you want right now.

I’ll give you a few examples…

1. I am asking for a raise because I’m worth it.
2. I am asking for the sale because people need what I have to offer.
3. I am asking my friend to refer me business because she/he knows a lot of people.
4. I am asking if anyone has a job opening because I’m ready to work.
5. I am asking a total stranger for their business card so I can follow up.

As with most things in life, the more you do something, the easier it becomes. If you’re feeling fearful about it, that’s a sign that you should do it. Take a few deep breaths and state your question with the purest of intentions!

Life is not supposed to be a struggle and “She works hard for the money” can play in your mind a million times, but on the contrary, making money can be easy and getting what you want can be very simple if you wear just enough courage to ask for exactly what you want.

When you make a concerted effort and continue to ask, it keeps you on track. Furthermore, the mere fact that you asked is a significant accomplishment. The important things in your life were sparked by questions. It’s the questions that count the most in life-not the answers!

Side Note: One of my favorite affirmations, I am practicing the law of giving and receiving. If you find yourself asking a lot of questions, it’s always nice to offer something in return, even if it’s just a compliment or helpful hint. You always want to create an even playing field.
