Ungenita’s Home Town

That’s right I grew up minutes from the Superdome. I twirled batons in Mardi Gras Parades on Canal Street. I went to St. Louis Cathedral School in the French Quarter. If anyone wants the Saints to win it’s me. I’ve watched my Father Root for this team year after year. Imagine being a fan of a team you’ve been conditioned to believe will never win. If you’ve ever been the underdog you know what it feels like to achieve victory.

The New Orleans Saints are a professional American football team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Saints play in the South Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL).

The Saints were founded in 1967 as an expansion team and played their home games at Tulane Stadium through the 1974 season. They went more than a decade before they managed to finish a season with a .500 record, two decades before having a winning season, and over four decades before reaching the Super Bowl. The team’s first successful years were from 1987–1992, when the team made the playoffs four times and had winning records in the non-playoff seasons. In the 2000 season, the Saints defeated the then-defending Super Bowl champion St. Louis Rams for the team’s first playoff win.

Since 1975, the Saints’ home stadium has been the Louisiana Superdome.[1] However, due to the damage Hurricane Katrina caused to the Superdome and the New Orleans area, the Saints’ scheduled2005 home opener against the New York Giants was moved to Giants Stadium. The remainder of their 2005 home games were split between the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, and LSU’s Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After a $185 million renovation of the historic stadium, the team returned to the Superdome for the 2006 season. The team played its 2006 home opener in front of a sold-out crowd and national television audience on September 25, 2006, defeating the Atlanta Falcons by a score of 23–3. The victory received a 2007 ESPY award for “Best Moment in Sports.” The club reached the NFC Championship Game in 2006 but lost 39-14 to the Chicago Bears.

The 2009 season was the team’s best season. The November 30, 2009 Monday Night Football game vs. the New England Patriots, in which the team went to an 11–0 record for the first time in franchise history, was the second highest rated cable program to date.[2] After becoming 13–0 with their win over the Atlanta Falcons, it marked the Saints’ best start to a season in its franchise history. The result clinched an NFC playoff berth, a bye in the first round of the playoffs. By winning their first 13 games, the Saints also set the record for the longest undefeated season opening (13-0) by an NFC team since the AFL–NFL merger, eclipsing the previous record (12-0) held by the 1985 Chicago Bears. The team advanced to the 2009 NFC Championship game where they defeated the Minnesota Vikings 31-28 in overtime, sending the team to their first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history.

Meet Performance Coach Cindera Che

Did you know my first love is dance? I have been trying to figure out how I can incorporate dance into my Beauty Bash. Well a year ago I had the pleasure of meeting one of The Dancing Coaches On “Dancing With The Stars”. We reconnected over the holidays & viola dreams do come true.

Veteran performance coach Cindera Che joined us at the Makeover event on Saturday January 23, 2010 in Marina Del Rey to share her approach for developing Sexy, Confident, Articulate Bodies.

Yes I worked with Janet Jackson but Cindera had the pleasure of working with Michael Jackson, do you remember the hit song Smooth Criminal”. My second favorite choreography of Michael Jackson to Billy Jean

Check out the photo below of the “Amazing Woman’s Day Event” I danced with Cindera at.BTW…I have about 6 boas in my closet. Cindera said it’s time to put them to good use.

A note from Cindera:

It has been my goal to encourage classy physical expression for women and spread the joy of dance in a supportive and fun environment. After liberating myself from a negative body image due to the pressure being a professional dancer in the entertainment industry, I strive to empower women to feel good in their own skin. As a performance coach, I dedicate  my time to develop sexy, confident and articulate bodies for celebrities on high profile shows as well as women from all walks of lives.

Cindera has performed in TV, film and stage for over 20 years. Her work as a performance coaching has been seen on Dancing With the StarsJanice Dickinson’s Modeling Agency, The View and InStyle Magazine.

I attended Cindera’s signature event Boa Me Beautiful this weekend in Venice Beach.  For more info about Cindera visit BoaMeBeautiful.com

Nutricity For Beauty Thursday

February 4th, 2010

Hot off the press from my dear colleague Tricia Greaves. I think the word diet should be deleted from our vocabulary; it’s not an empowering word. Sit back, relax & enjoy this article & the 10 tips that can keep you on track for a slim/trim body and remember diets don’t work.

The “Never Diet Again” Diet

If you’re like me, you’ve been on a jillion diets…that never worked! (After all, if any diet had worked, I wouldn’t have needed to go on yet another one!) It wasn’t a mystery what foods to eat and not eat, so that wasn’t the problem. With every new diet I’d be “good” for a while, but then that urge to break out and eat what I really wanted overwhelmed me and I’d gorge myself again. I didn’t even crave unhealthy foods…granola, Soy Delicious and Cliff bars satisfied my sweet tooth better than any Snickers bar! But the ensuing feelings of self-loathing and shame from not being able to control myself were unbearable. I had to find a better way.

Thankfully, that better way came in the form of receiving help for my emotional eating. So much of the time my food urges came from needing the crutch of excess food to get me through difficult times and feelings. After learning to identify and heal the uncomfortable feelings I always stuffed with food, and having my mentor, Roy Nelson, help me through that process, I was able to finally lose 50 lbs and become whole in mind, body and spirit.

You can begin your own journey of healing by developing a few self-care habits that will improve your relationship with food today.

Here are 10 Tips that will keep you from ever having to diet again:

  1. Don’t skip any meals (skipping meals is a sure-fire way to overeat)
  2. Plan your meals ahead of time (if you fail to plan, you plan to fail)
  3. Take time to prepare good, nutritious meals… (The Co-op has all the right ingredients!
  4. Don’t eat out of boxes and bags…put food on a plate, sit at the table and consciously enjoy your meals!
  5. When you exercise, do so with the idea of strengthening your body, not losing weight or making up for a binge
  6. Take 10-20 minutes to rest before preparing dinner…it could cut down your calorie intake by over 200 calories
  7. Keep a note pad handy and chronicle your feelings throughout the day
  8. Ask for help with overwhelming tasks…you don’t have to do everything by yourself
  9. Acknowledge emotionally trying times and seek the support you need
  10. Develop a daily meditation practice for mental, emotional, physical and spiritual balance (this is the best weight loss secret there is!)

Having lost 50 lbs. through identifying and addressing the underlying causes of her emotional eating, Tricia Greaves founded Heal Your Hunger (HealYourHunger.com). HYH offers help women overcome emotional eating, eating disorders and obesity.

Tricia is a certified coach and an internationally known speaker offering workshops, teleclasses and 7-day retreats (HYHRetreats.com) on the topic of emotional eating and healthy weight loss. She is also the contributing author of 101 Great Ways to Improve Your Health and the popular Thank God I book series in which she writes a chapter called, “Thank God I Was Fat.” Tricia has been featured on numerous TV and radio shows including KTLA, CBS-2, K-EARTH, The WAVE, KPFK, KRLA and WOR, and is launching her own Web TV show this spring.

Boutmiche Boutique

One of my favorite movies is “Pretty Woman”. Do you remember The Rodeo Drive boutique where Julia Roberts was snubbed by the staff. Well last Friday I found myself standing in that very boutique because I spotted the perfect dress for my BIG BEAUTY BASH JAN 23, 2010. The ladies at Boulmiche Boutique, which is actually on the corner of  Santa Monica Blvd/Rodeo Drive were awesome. Nothing like “The Goody Two Shoes” in the movie.

The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity - Edwene Gaines

The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity - Edwene Gaines

Wishing You A Sexy & Successful New Year!!!

Would you believe I just finished this book in time for The New Year. It’s one of the best books I’ve read in a while on Prosperity. It was recommended by my good friend Barbara Doust of IAMSOULNOTES.COM. If you would like to shift your wealth consciousness in 2010. I invite you to prosper with me. Check out the review on Amazon. If you’d like to purchase “The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity” by Edwene Gaines just click on the picture above.

Book Description

An empowering message about the true meaning of prosperity-to help anyone achieve a life of material and spiritual abundance.

Imagine if you could achieve a life of true prosperity, enjoying:

  • a vitally alive, healthy body through which you experience relationships that are always satisfying and intimate, honest, and nurturing
  • work you love so much that it’s not work-it’s play
  • all the money you can spend

Living at this exceptional level is not only possible-it’s right there for you, Edwene Gaines explains, if only you abide by the four spiritual laws of prosperity. Gaines, an ordained Unity minister, has been delivering her inspirational, life-changing message to audiences of all faiths at workshops across the country. Now she brings her powerful words to readers of this, her first book. Explaining the four spiritual laws, she shows why it is essential to:

  • tithe to the person or place where you have received your spiritual nourishment
  • set clear-cut, tangible goals
  • forgive everyone all the time, especially yourself
  • seek, discover, and follow your divine purpose-which will help you to assign significance to your life and bring a passion to all that you do

The solution to financial problems lies within, Gaines insists, and here she shows readers how to raise their abundance consciousness and free themselves from a life of deprivation and want.

Review

In The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity, Edwene Gaines blends sacred truths with delightful stories of spiritual principles at work”a masterpiece filled with love, humor, and practical steps for a life more abundant.~John Randolph Price, Best-selling author and chairman of the Quartus Foundation

Once in a blue moon a book comes along that changes your life forever. Edwene Gaines has written such a book. By the end of the second chapter I made a decision to follow her suggestions.  Thanks to her I have taken an essential step in my own spiritual journey by putting God first in my financial life.~John Lee, author of The Flying Boy and Growing Yourself Back-Up

“Edwene Gaines is ‘a prosperity pioneer,’ the likes of which the world has never seen. After years of lecture work on the subject, she is now sharing with us the results of what her teachings are and the numerous results those who have tried them have gotten. She writes as she lectures–in a straight forward manner with humor. An unbeatable combination! Read, practice, enjoy, and prosper…” ~Catherine Ponder

“Edwene Gaines follows in the tradition of Charles Fillmore, Eric Butterworth, and Catherine Ponder with her transforming message of prosperity: ‘God wants you to be prosperous.’ Beloved throughout Unity–and with good reason–she has touched hundreds of thousands of people with her breakthrough words of encouragement. Here, her straightforward guide lays it all out in a way that can change anyone’s consciousness: four laws of prosperity delivered in the affable, endearing style of the one and only Edwene.” -Thomas J. • "Nutricity For Beauty"™

people-acai-berry-juice I coined the phrase “Nutricity For Beauty” when I learned about “Nutrition For Beauty”. Being in the entertainment business I was so focused on my external body that I was oblivious to the significance of it’s internal functions. Then, around two years ago, I was enlightened by the works of scientist Dr. Alexander Schauss and Dr. Nicholas Perricone. It has enabled me to delve into where beauty starts…on a cellular level. Today I understand how you can maximize your internal and external assets so they are synonymous. This is where authentic beauty starts…Antioxidants are the fountain of youth. Antioxidants are found in plants. If you are not eating enough plants you are accelerating the aging process. If you are not in a hurry to see 30, 40 or 50 then I strongly recommend eating at least 5-9 servings of fruit a day.
  • "Fat-Free Beauty"

Did you know that by eating fruit you can actually flush away the fat? Well you can. Eating certain foods help to turbo charge the weight loss. Certain fruits are Low Energy Density which means that they contain more water, fiber and enzymes then others. These fruits help aid in weight loss.

  • Beauty

Beauty is a dominant theme in western art, as evidenced in Nymph with morning glory flowers by Jules Joseph Lefebvre.

Beauty is a characteristic of a person, place, object, or idea that provides a perceptual experience of pleasure, meaning, or satisfaction. Beauty is studied as part of aesthetics, sociology, social psychology, and culture. As a cultural creation, beauty has been extremely commercialized. An "ideal beauty" is an entity which is admired, or possesses features widely attributed to beauty in a particular culture.

The experience of "beauty" often involves the interpretation of some entity as being in balance and harmony with nature, which may lead to feelings of attraction and emotional well-being. Because this is a subjective experience, it is often said that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder."[1] In its most profound sense, beauty may engender a salient experience of positive reflection about the meaning of one's own existence. A subject of beauty is anything that resonates with personal meaning.

The classical Greek adjective beautiful was καλλός. The Koine Greek word for beautiful was "ὡραῖος",[2] an adjective etymologically coming from the word "ὥρα" meaning hour. In Koine Greek, beauty was thus associated with "being of one's hour". A ripe fruit (of its time) was considered beautiful, whereas a young woman trying to appear older or an older woman trying to appear younger would not be considered beautiful. ὡραῖος in Attic Greek had many meanings, including youthful and ripe old age.
